Additional Information
Video Galaxy Gamma (NTSC) Version 2.01
This file contains additional information and changes about the various
software that was not available at the printing time.
Integrated TV and Video with MPEG Upgrade
=========================================
This upgraded version of the Video Galaxy Gamma (NTSC) Software has
all the TV, Video and MPEG Installation integrated. Depending on the
presence of the MPEG upgrade Board, the installed software will automat-
ically enable the MPEG functions accordingly. This upgraded version of soft-
ware will not need any extra MPEG upgrade installation.
Notes for Extended Memory >= 16M Users:
=======================================
If your computer has at least 16 MB of on-board memory, please
select the Page Memory option under the Hardware Config dialog box. See
the section "Notes for EMM386 or Other Expanded Memory Users" below, for
details on the Page Memory option.
Alternatively, you can select memory address `1C' from the Linear
Memory option under the Hardware Config dialog box, if the motherboard's
chipset supports it. (Note: To select this option, the on-board memory
must not be greater than 28 MB.)
Notes for EMM386 or Other Expanded Memory Users:
================================================
If you are using the EMM386 on your system together with the WinVideo
software, you need to either use the Linear Memory option under the
SETUP -> HARDWARE CONFIG dialog box, OR to exclude the EMM386 from using
memory address 0xD0000 to 0xD7FFF with Page Memory option by appending
"x=d000-d7ff" to the existing line in the CONFIG.SYS file.
Notes for Doublespace Users:
============================
If you are using the Doublespace drive for capturing the AVI files using
Video for Windows or other software with video capturing capability, you
may experience a higher dropping frame rate as compared to a uncompressed
drive. As for playback a AVI files using a Doublespace drive, you may
also encounter a slower refreshing rate.
Compression Formats Supported
=============================
Please take note that the codec driver can support playback and format
conversion to "2:1 Compression 16-bit" and "2:1 Compression 24-bit".
However, it cannot support capturing using these 2 formats. If the user
attempts to capture AVI files using these 2 formats, an error message
will be displayed, after which the user will not be allowed to continue
capturing using either of these formats.
Important Notes:
================
Some OEM VGA drivers that bundled with the VGA card may encounter some
abnormalities, e.g. video image occupies only half the size of the
display window. This is due to the driver that does not set the VGA flags,
which is maintain by Windows, accordingly. This can be solve by disable
the auto detect check boxes inside the `VGA Parameters' dialog box, and
set the parameters manually.
On some SIS chipset systems, you may encounter abnormalities in the
control of the tuner and the audio outputs. This can be solve by
overwriting the MVM121A.* with the MVMPATCH.* files.
